Respect for the Aged Day in Japan

Today is Respect for the Aged Day, called Keiro no Hi in Japanese. It is a national holiday celebrated on the third Monday of September.

Every year, I used to give my parents flowers or a gift. Remembering those days, I bought a bouquet at the grocery store and placed it on our dining table. 💐

On this special day, people show their love and appreciation for their grandparents, parents, and other elderly family members. Many families visit them, enjoy a meal together, or give them flowers, sweets, cards, and small gifts.

Most importantly, Keiro no Hi reminds us to thank the older people in our lives and wish them good health, happiness, and a long life.
